Obituary

Joquita Elizabeth Robbins was born on February 21, 1927 in Muskogee, Oklahoma from the union of the late Barry Kid Robbins and Mable Elizabeth Givens Robbins.

Realizing the importance of a personal relationship with Christ, Joquita was baptized and became a member of the Beebe Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at an impressionable age, and throughout adulthood. She received her education through the Muskogee Public Schools, including the Historic Manual Training High School.

Affectionately referred to as "Aunt Jo" by family or also as "Granny", Joquita Elizabeth Robbins united in Holy Matrimony with Charles Reynolds in 1945. This union was later dissolved and later, she married Fedro James Simmons in 1950. Mrs. Simmons served the Lord faithfully on the Usher Board, the Senior Choir, the Mattie E. Coleman Missionary Circle, the Women's Missionary Society Circle #2, the Hospitality Committee and supported all ministries on the local, district, regional and national levels.

During her lifetime, she helped to provide for her family through her employment at Jack C. Mongomery V.A. Regional Medical Center, Muskogee Public Schools and OSU Extension as a Nutritionist before her retirement in 1977.

After "Four-score and Seven Years" Joquita Elizabeth Robbins "heard a voice from Heaven say Peace be Thine" on Friday morning, September 12, 2014 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband Fedro James Simmons, her parents and grandparents, and a sister, Maxine Robbins.

She leaves to lament her passing; her children, Sharon A. Hays, Gary, Indiana, Thelma Simmons Owens, Vanessa Witherspoon and Gerald [Martinea] Witherspoon, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Natasha Hays, Conyers, Georgia, James and Cherise Simmons, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Teresa Owens, Wagoner, Oklahoma, Ira E.
