April 25, 1945 a beautiful 11 pound baby boy was born to Serenas Evans and Della Mae Anderson of Beggs, OK. Joseph was raised by his grandparents Allie B and Beatrice Anderson and attended school in Tulsa, OK as a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1963, Joe excelled in a variety of sports including Basketball and Football. Joseph was determined to complete his education and graduated from Tulsa community College with an associates degree in 1976. From 1964-1968 Joe served in the United States Air Force. While serving his country he met Alice Dixon and they were united in marriage on December 26, 1968. From this union two beautiful babies were born, Cledella and Quintin Evans. Joe worked as a welder at Unit Rig, most of us remember his 23 years of service with the Tulsa Fire Department where he retired as a Fire Captain, Joe was also an entrepreneur opening and managing his own Baber shop.
Joe coached a variety of sports and was known as Coach Evans throughout the community. He coached Booker T Washington's first Freshman's football team which was undefeated (13-0) and unscored on, exemplifying true character of Coach.
On Tuesday morning December 20, 2011 Joe completed his earthly service. Proceeded in death by his mother Della Anderson, grandparents Allie B Anderson, Beatrice Anderson; and Goddaughter, Tonja Jones.
