Mr. Joseph C. Williams, better known as "J.C." was born on June 19, 1930 in Claremore, Oklahoma from the parentage of Fredrick and Annie Williams. He was the fourth of seven children in this family.
He grew up in Claremore, where he accepted Christ at an early age. After completing school, he served his country honorably in the United States Army. during the Korean War.
After his discharge from service, Mr. Williams met Irene Adkins and they had a baby girl, which they named Linda Gayle, his first-born.
In 1950, J. C. met and then married Leora McVay. Later, he met and married Ernestine Simmons, and to this union, five children were born; Joseph Jr., Elizabeth, Ola Mae [who preceded him in death], Gary and Diana.
J. C. and Leora were married 55 years and their union was blessed with three children; Gerald [Corky], Reginald [Reggie] and Melania.
Mr. Williams was a hard working man and never knew how to say no to anyone he could help, especially his children, family and friends. Joe worked for the City of Tulsa for ten years and retired from Marietta Cement Company after 26 years of service.
Mr. Williams "crossed into Paradise" on Friday, February 26, 2010 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leora, his mother and father, a brother, Ray, and three sisters, Mardella, Castella and Katherine.
J. C. leaves to lament his death and cherish his memory; his children, Linda Sanford [Lawrence], Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joseph Williams, Jr., Canton, Ohio, Elizabeth Normore, Gary Williams, Diana Carter [Bobby], all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Gerald Williams [Lera], Beggs, Oklahoma, Reginald Williams, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Melania Gause [Patrick], North Carolina; 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sister, Elnora Ratliff, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Early M. Thompson, Kansas City, Missouri; and a caravan of other relatives and friends; a loving nephew, Ronald McVay, who provided loving care for Mr. Williams, as well.
The Celebration of his life will be on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the St. Paul Trinity Pentecostal Church. Pastor Mack Franklin, Eulogist and Elder Christopher Jones, Officiant.
Burial will follow, with Military honors in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa.
