IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joshawna
Green
December 18, 1966 – August 26, 2025
Jo'Shawna Green, affectionately known as "Jo," was born on December 18, 1966, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to the late Joann Green and Happy Jo Bishop Jr.
She was called home by the Lord on August 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
Jo grew up in the close-knit community of Reeves Addition in Muskogee, where she attended Dubois Elementary, Alice Robertson Junior High, and Carter G. Woodson High School.
Her nurturing spirit led her to a fulfilling career in healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), where she dedicated many years to caring for the elderly. Jo had a special gift for making those around her feel cherished and valued, often sharing her infectious laughter and a good joke, believing wholeheartedly that laughter was indeed good for the soul.
A devoted friend, Jo cherished her time with her close companions Melinda Houston, Jenetta Criswell and the Vann Girls—Renee, Tonya, and Tracey. Her home was a welcoming haven, where the aroma of her delicious home-cooked meals would draw in neighbors and friends alike.
Jo had a big heart and made it a point to ensure that all the children in her neighborhood were well-fed and cared for. Jo's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord deeply and found solace in prayer and worship music, often playing her favorite song, "I Won't Complain," as a testament to her unwavering spirit and gratitude for God's goodness.
After spending 15 years in Tulsa, Jo returned to Muskogee to care for her beloved brother, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to family. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Jo was preceded in death by her son, Eric Green; her loved ones Muslim Muhammad, Margaret Knapper; and her grandson, Keyshawn Muhammad.
She leaves behind a loving family who will uphold her cherished memories, including her daughter, Ebony Green of Oklahoma; her son, Shahib Muhammad of Oklahoma; her uncle Larry (Demita) Green; and her grandchildren, Joseph, Bailee, Taylor, Cholwee Green, R'Kya and Richie Johnson III, Arekesha, Kevin, TK, Dylan, and Athenia. Jo is also survived by her godchildren, Erin and Andre McJunkins and Anthony Livingston; her sisters Dewanda (Harry) Neale of Oklahoma, Florence Bishop Norwood of Texas, Val Bishop House of California, Theresa Gill of Texas, Monica Bishop of Oklahoma, Michelle Bishop of California, and Wyvette Norwood Reeves; her brothers Michael (Francine) Green of Oklahoma, Ricky Reed of Texas, Ken Bishop of Minnesota, and Mikey Bishop of Washington D.C.; along with the Reeves Addition family.
