Mrs. Joyce Johnson, age 51 and a resident of Beggs, Oklahoma, beloved wife of Wendell Johnson, dozed into the peaceful rest of eternal slumber on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from her home in Beggs.
Joyce was born in Okmulgee on October 27, 1957, the daughter of Alfred and Wilma [Barnes] Adkins. She grew up in Okmulgee and attended school here, graduating from Okmulgee High School with the Bicentennial Class of 1976.
She followed her calling in the restaurant business, operating Al's Barbeque in Okmulgee with her parents and siblings. Joyce will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and other relatives gone before her.
Remaining to lament her death: her husband, Windell Johnson, of the home in Beggs, Oklahoma; her children, Nicole Johnson, Whitney Johnson, Windell Johnson, Jr., Joel Johnson and Reshad Johnson; her siblings, Sharon Whitlow, Deborah Humphrey and husband, Jackie Humphrey and husband, Stanley Adkins, Mark Adkins and wife, and Robert Adkins and wife; 3 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The final tribute will be on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 2;00 P.M. in the Chapel of Peace at the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee. Rev. Ray Hester will officiate. Burial will follow in New Post Oak Cemetery in Beggs.
