Obituary

On the seventh day of May of the year of our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Forty-Five, a baby girl arrived from the loving union of Clowson and Corabell (Thompson) Wallace in San Francisco, California. They named her Juanita Wallace.

Juanita attended Wheatley Grade School, Sadler Junior High School and Manual Training High School in Muskogee graduating with the class of 1963.

Juanita moved to Tulsa and worked for the Tulsa City/County Health department from 1967 to 1971 until she opened Pee Wee Day Care and Child Development Center on December 29, 1973. Juanita owned and operated this 24 hour facility, licensed for 325 kids, in North Tulsa until May 12, 1999 when her health forced her to retire and sell. Juanita met Lafayette Durham in 1991 and married June 29, 1996. There were no children born of this union. However, Juanita had two children from a prior relationship.

On Wednesday morning, March 13, 2019, God called and Juanita answered from St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Kanzetta Mae Anderson, and a brother Clowson Wallace Jr.

Juanita leaves to mourn her husband Lafayette Durham of the home; two sons Pierre Eduardo Butler of Tulsa, OK and Antonio Enrique Butler of Norman, OK.; two sisters Sylvania Poncil Harron of KC, Mo. and Sandra Kaye Woolridge-Hill of Tulsa, OK; a brother Aaron Earl Woolridge, Jr. (Brenda) of White Lake, MI; one grandchild Allee Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The Sacred Farewell to Mrs. Durham will commence on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 12 Noon in Antioch, Temple of Hope, 500 West Broadway Avenue.  Dr. Marlon J. Coleman is the gracious host pastor and Pastor A. H and Marlon Jones, Officiating.

Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
