Keisha Dionne Burkhalter-Sibley, a resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in her 38th year, traded her "Cross for a Crown" on May 17, 2013.
Keisha was a kind and courageous spirit who loved to the fullest and fought until the end. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Keisha was the oldest of two children, born on September 26, 1974 in Monroe, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at the age of five and was baptized by Rev. Deacue Fields Jr. at Pleasant Star Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Louisiana. From elementary school through 9th grade, Keisha attended Monroe City Schools. Upon relocating to Tulsa with her family, Keisha attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with the Class of 1992. She united with First Baptist Church North Tulsa currently under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Anthony Scott. Keisha's desire to become a Grambling State University Tiger took her back to Louisiana where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting in1996.
Keisha was previously employed as a Claims Representative at State Farm Insurance Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was highly respected and known for her pleasant demeanor and keen ability to settle claims justly and fairly.
Keisha was diagnosed with cancer in 2001. Her journey to various medical facilities throughout the United States, gave her the ability to share a smile and touch many souls along the way. To know Keisha, was to love Keisha. Many, including her medical team, were inspired by her unwavering faith, her steadfast courage, and her unyielding strength to press her way through her illness and not give up.
Keisha's proudest moments were spent being a loving and supportive mom to her sons where she volunteered at their schools and sports activities and served as homeroom mom. One of her signature trademarks was her creative ability to turn beads, precious gems and sterling silver into beautiful handmade jewelry, which are still worn by many today.
Keisha was welcomed into her eternal home by her grandparents Mose & Beatrice Jones, Jesse & Erma Williams, P.J. & Lela Bell Anderson.
Keisha's poise, her poignant grace, and her undeniable smile will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Jaylon Ramon Lusk and LaGrant Sibley II, her parents, Carl Edward and Marie Jones Williams and Sam and Gloria Burkhalter, her sister, Carlisha Williams, her grandfather, Booker T. Burkhalter and a host of loving, supportive family and friends.
Services for will be Tuesday May 21, 2013 at 11AM at First Baptist Church on North Greenwood.
Friends may visit her as she peacefully rests on Monday from 12Noon until 7PM in Tulsa.
