Obituary

A precious, baby boy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 23, 1968 to John and Naomi Buchanan. He was the first born of four children and was named Kenneth Donnell Buchanan.

Better known as "Donnell" by his family and friends, he was baptized at an early age and attended Union Baptist Church. During his early childhood, Donnell was a quiet child, who stayed mostly to himself and liked to play football with his mother's hair pins until he received his first electronic football game.

He was very protective of his sister, Roshea and cousin, Imesia, always treating them like little girls. He loved sitting, talking and laughing about the old days with his brothers, John and Joseph, and he spent a lot of time with his two cousins, Cedric and Chris. He loved to party with all of his aunts, uncles and cousins and was well known througout the family as a momma's boy and he didn't care who knew it. His children, Jonel, Veronica and Chasady was his pride and joy. Everyone knew how he was about his girls, the sun set and shined on them everyday of his life. His granddaughter, Elayla was the apple of his eye.

Donnell enjoyed playing sports, watching sports [Dallas Cowboys] and movies, playing pool, visiting with his friends and family and listening to music. He enjoyed recording music and listening to music very, very loudly with his friend, Cedric "12 Gauge" Johnson and he was known as DJ "Dr. Funk". His hobby was working on family photo's.

Donnell attended Hilldale Public Schools, where he graduated in 1987 and was the first HIlldale student to ever receive a full scholarship and signed a letter of intent with Souteastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, where he graduated with a bachelor degree in Communications. During his years at Hilldale, Donnell met his best friend/brother, Brian Defore and they became the school pranksters and inseparable. While at Hilldale, he played basketball, ran track but stood out as a talented football player. His father, John enjoyed watching him play football and never missed a game his son played. During his school years, he joined the Kudo's Boy's Youth Guidance Group of the Delta Omicron Chapter sponsored by Avalon B. Reece.

Donnell[known as Ken to his wife and family] had just started his new job at KMart in 2012, when he became seriously ill and was unable to continue to work. In October of 2009, he met his wife, Tammy Wildcat and they were married on December 1, 2013 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where they made their home. His brother-in-law, Tommy Wildcat was a musician and he loved to hear him play the flute.

Mr. Kenneth Donnell Buchanan, after 46 years with us, transitioned from life to everlasting on Monday night, September 21, 2015 from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Lewis, his father, John Buchanan, Sr., his grandparents, an aunt and five uncels.
