On July 15, 1954, Nehemiah and Johnnie Mae Solomon were blessed with a baby boy in Dayton Ohio, named Kenneth Ryan Solomon. He was the youngest of 3 children born to this union. At an early age, Kenneth and his family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they united with the St. Monica Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy. He was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents.
Kenneth attended McClain High School where he participated in football and wrestling. He graduated class of 1972. After high school he served in the United States Armed Forces. Following thereafter, he attended Northeastern State University, where he became a member of the Eta Theta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Incorporated and met the love of his life Novella (Nodie) Newton and was united in marriage April 28, 1979. Kenneth also pursued a trade in Engineering, and then attended college at Okmulgee Tech where he obtained a engineering license.
Kenneth and Novella enjoyed the blessing of a blended family, which consisted of Shawn, Kenetha, Kendrea, Karesha, and Kenneth(Kenny). Kenneth was a devoted family man to his wife, children, and grandchildren. His first priority was his family in which he enjoyed spending time with. His hobbies include hunting, playing dominos, fishing, and watching sports. He coached youth football and was a member of a bowling league.
Kenneth had a quiet and sweet spirit. He was a guiding light, mentor, and friend. He instilled in his children to pursue their dreams and stick together. "We were blessed to have a father like him". He was truly our pride and joy. To his wife, he was her confidant best friend and wonderful husband. They were married for 36 years.
Kenneth Solomon's life will be remembered and loved by his by his devoted wife, Novella, sons, Shawn (Tasha ), Kenneth (Ivory), daughters, Kenetha ,Kendrea (Derrole) Greene, and Karesha, mother, Johnnie Mae Austin, brother, Ahmad Shadeed, sister, Patricia (Micheal)Lee, grandchildren, Iatonna, Shawn Jordan "Lil Shawn" Derrole Greene III and A'morey Jackson II, and, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services for Mr. Kenneth Solomon will be Thursday April 23, 2015 at 6PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Tulsa.
Burial will follow Friday at 11AM at the National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
Friends may visit Mr. Solomon on Wednesday from 12Noon until 7PM in Tulsa.
