Obituary

After a courageous battle with cancer, Kent Delaine Rice, Sr. passed away peacefully in his hometown of Okmulgee on May 17, 2015. He was born to McKinley and Serena Lovett-Rice on March 16, 1983, blessing them with thirty-two years of life.

Kent grew up with his family in Okmulgee, where he was well known and loved by many. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 2001. While attending Okmulgee Public Schools, he was active in football and track. Kent was a hard worker and held many jobs, his final place of employment with Braden Winch.

Kent dedicated his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church under the Pastoral guidance of the late Reverend C.J. Jeffrey. He later joined St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of his father, Reverend McKinley Rice. He was an intricate part to the church's lawn maintenance and bus ministry.

He met the love of his life, Marquecia Coulter and after several years of courtship, they were married on September 27, 2008. Their union was blessed with two sons; Kent Delaine, Jr. and Kovan Davon. Kent never missed an opportunity to spend time doing what he did best, which was fishing. He also enjoyed billiards, weight-lifting, and coaching his son's little league basketball team. He was full of life and never met a stranger, young or old. But, his greatest joy was being a family man. Kent was a dedicated husband, father, son and friend who will be greatly missed.

Kent will be remembered by his devoted wife, Marquecia Rice, two sons Kent, Jr. and Kovan, as well as his parents Rev. McKinley and Serena Rice, sister Whitney Rice, and nephew Roman Reagan along with a caravan of other relatives and a multitude of friends who were blessed to know him.

The Celebration to Honor a Loving Husband, Dedicated Father, Son, and Friend to Many will commence on Saturday morning, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Saint Matthew Baptist Church.
