Obituary

On December 3, 1946, a beautiful, baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel King, Sr.  She was the fourth of twelve children in the family and given the name King Zella.

"Ella," as she was affectionately referred to, attended Muskogee Public Schools, where she graduated from Historic Manual Training High School.  King Zella affiliated herself at Metropolitan Baptist Church at a young age.  She was loyal to her friends and those she came in contact with.

Ella met and married Ron Alexander in 1975.  Their union was blessed with seven children;  Simone, Stephanie, Tonio, Shelton, Torrence, Neal and Sean.

During her life, Ella catered the luncheons for the Rotary Club for 10 years.  She was a Cherokee Nation Citizen and also a well known singer in the Muskogee area.  King Zella was a sales woman from an early age, when around the 8 or 9 years of age, she began collecting pop and whisky bottles and selling them.  She was always a willing worker, helping neighbors in their gardens, running errands or anything to make some change.  In her most recent years, she turned to Antiques and Collectable buying and selling.

After 70 years with us, King Zella Alexander "dozed into Perfect Peace" on Monday, February 27, 2017 from her home in Muskogee.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Addie King, Sr.;  two brothers, Nathaniel King, Jr., and Ishmeal King;  and her grandparents, Mack and Ethel McClain.

Mrs. Alexander leaves to lament her passing;  her devoted husband of 42 years, Ron Alexander;  seven children;  her daughters, Simone Taylor [Gerald], of Texas and Stephanie Washington, Chicago, Illinois;  her sons, Shelton Alexander [Amy], Tonio Alexander [Kelly], all of Muskogee, Torrence Alexander, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Neal Alexander, Muskogee, and Sean Alexander [Shawn'ta], Texas;  eight sisters, Margaret N. Cope, Rena Logan, Mignon Brooks [Claudie], Vanessa Johnson [Robert], Shenia Gunn [William], Rodslen Brown, Zenobia Howard [Thomas] all of Muskogee and Natasha Firth [Kevin], Owasson, Oklahoma;  three brothers, Edward King, Pasadena, California, Anthony King [Eliza], Muskogee and Brian Moore, Tulsa, Oklahoma;  Mrs. Alexander leaves special memories to thirteen grandchildren, and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends.

The final hour with Mrs. Alexander will commence on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in the New Community Church.  Burial will follow in the Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee.
