LaDonna Sue Manning, affectionately known by many as "Aunt Sue", died on July 15, 2014. She was born in Checotah, OK, on August 15, 1955, to the late Katherine Brooks – Harris. She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Brooks-Harris, three sisters, Evelyn Brooks (twin), Linda Darnell Goff, Sharon Denise Griffin, and one brother Walter Gene Brooks.
LaDonna was a Christian who confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church and she loved her church family. She was very faithful and an active member serving as Pastor's Aide Chairman, Financial Security Secretary, and Missions. She was educated in Dewar, OK school system and attended Oklahoma State University, in Okmulgee, OK. She was employed by First National Bank of Okmulgee for 37 years as a Customer Service Representative.
LaDonna met the 'love of her life" David A. Manning in June 1974. David and LaDonna dated for one and half years and were united in marriage on December 14, 1974. They were married for 38 years. To this union, two children were born: Tyra Olden, Okmulgee, OK; and LaTesha Cowan, Tulsa, OK. In addition, to their biological daughters, they also were parents to LaNesha Jackson, Naperville, IL. LaDonna truly "LOVED" her family as she always looked for opportunities to celebrate her family and would sponsor parties for any and all occasions. LaDonna was also a very caring person as she often fed the homeless and served many battered women shelters.
Celebrating her life with cherished memories, she leaves a loving husband, David A. Manning; three devoted daughters, Tyra Olden, Okmulgee, OK, LaTesha Cowan, (DeJuan), Tulsa, OK and LaNesha Jackson (Lawrence), Naperville, IL; three precious grandchildren, Tyesha Olden, Kansas City, MO, Tyandra Olden and Alexia Oropesa, Tulsa, OK; one great grandson, Terrell Olden (affectionately called "Mr"); an honorary grand-daughter, Victoria Davis; and one sister, Sheila D. Brooks, Kansas City, MO along with a host of relatives and friends. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
A Memorial Ceremony celebrating her life will be shared on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Eastside Baptist Church.
Friends may sign the memorial register at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until 5 PM in Okmulgee.
