On January 15, 1950, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, a beautiful baby girl was born to Theodore Jones and Betty Lewis. They named her Lamisha. She was the eldest of 5 children.

She accepted Christ at an early age, attending New Town Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Lamisha attended school in Beggs, Oklahoma. After graduating from The Historical Wheatly High School, she attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she received her bachelor’s degree. From there she moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where she gave birth to her beautiful daughter Lagina Gaines and taught High School for many years. After retirement, she married the love of her life Melvin Gaines.

Lamisha had many hobbies which included; sewing, traveling, cooking, scrapbooking, studying her Native American heritage and bingo, just to name a few. She loved creating memories with family as she instilled that into each and every one especially her great-grandchildren.

On June 10, 2026, As the sun set. Lamisha was visited by an angel of the Lord calling her to come on home. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lagina; her brothers, Paul and Wilden and her nephew Scottie. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Melvin Gaines, grandchildren Keonté Osborne of Dallas, TX, KeJuan Gaines along with Great-Grandchildren Kamri, Kaxton, Khyar of Okmulgee, OK, sisters, LaKeta Thompson of Beggs, Ok, LaNita (Martin) Lang of Boynton, Ok; her bonus-children, Melvin Gaines Jr. of Tulsa, Melva Gaines of Tulsa, Kenyonna (Derrick) Williams of Beggs, Ok; bonus-grandchildren, Kyliah, Mylah, Trauna, Trey, Sequin, and Dejon; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Sacred Farewell for Lamisha will commence on Friday, June 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church-South Beggs, where Pastor Greg Lewis is the Gracious Host and Minister Martin Lang will render the eulogy.

Burial will follow in the New Post Oak Cemetery, Northwest of Beggs.

You may visit her on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, as she slumbers in sweet repose in the Chapel of Peace of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.
