LaNita was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Fred Rentie and the late Kathleen Blakes. She received her diploma from Nathan Hale High School in 1982. She grew up and spent the majority of her life living in Tulsa. She moved to Charlotte, North Carolina for a few years, but to her there was no place like home. So she decided moved back to Tulsa. LaNita was always full of life, love, joy, and laughter. She lived on this earth as if she was appointed to brighten others day and make everyone smile. She had a passion for taking care of people, especially the elderly.

LaNita was preceded in death by her loving Father, Fred Rentie, Jr., her beautiful Mother, Kathleen Blakes, and her beloved sister Karen McKinney.

Left to continue the celebration of her life: her three daughters Myesha Benton, Sy Howell, and MaKayla Adams. Her sister Angela Abili, and her brother Fred Rentie, III; Two Sons-In-Law, Troy Benton and David Howell; Her precious grandchildren: Tasia Benton, Aaliyah Howell, David Howell, Jr., and Dalen LaTrell Howell; her nieces, LaTisha Atta, Ifeoma Abili, Oneza Atta, Yvonne McAllister, and Ashleigh Hill; her nephews: Patrick Abili, Jr., Chuzie 'Roscoe' Abili, Dustin Yahola, Kewan Bowie, DJ Miller, Michael Abili, and Fred McKinney; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews (including 1 on the way), cousins, and dear friends, will all be joining the celebration as well.

She is now but only a wilted rose.

Its fragrance a reminder of such sweet beauty.

In our hearts she will be eternally abloom.

Services for Ms. Rentie will be Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 1PM at New Testament Holiness Church located at 1724 E. 63rd Street North.

Friends may visit her as she rests on Tuesday from 1PM until 7PM, and on Wednesday from 9AM until 10:30AM in Tulsa.
