On October 1, 1974, a beautiful, little girl was born to Vernon Lee and Mamie Lou Clayton. Being named by her Aunt Rena, who noticed the name "LaQuinta" on a billboard, not realizing it was a hotel, it was noticeably a different name.
LaQuinta was a special child who loved to sing. She loved to go to Church with her grandmother. She acted much older than she really was. It was once said that she acted like she had been here on earth before. She professed a hope in Christ Jesus and at an early age, knew Jesus Christ, and her last words to her mother were "I've been faithful, I've been faithful."
Better known as "Quinnie" to family and friends, she loved her family but she adored her four sons. LaQuinta was a great mother and she took care of her children. She worked as a Phlebotomist in the health care industry and will be missed by all who knew her.
LaQuinta Michelle Clayton, after 37 years, surrendered her soul to Jesus on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She leaves to lament her death while yet carrying on her legacy of grace of love; her sons, LaTeze, Theontre, LaMarreon and A'Rayon, all of Wagoner, Oklahoma; her mother, Mamie Maxwell, Tulsa, Oklahoma; her father, Vernon Lee Clayton, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her siblings, Alphonso Henry, Vernetta Clayton-Thompson [Claude], Dellena Clayton-King, all of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Michelle Maxwell [Ronnie], LeRoy Clayton, Daneen Brown [Gerald], Robert Clayton, Vernon Clayton, Jr., all of Muskogee, Phillip Moore, Richardson, Texas, Chauncy Alexander, Arayonia Clayton, Sheena Alexander and Latasha Alexander, all of Kansas; her Aunts, Onetta, Zetta Rose and Hester; a very special friend, Pam, who helped nurture her children; along with a caravan of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends who loved her.
The Final Hour with her will commence on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Harvest Ministries, 2200 East Okmulgee Avenue. Pastor Lester Beasley is the gracious host Pastor and Pastor Larry Walker, Officiating.
Burial will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee. You may visit "Quinnie" as she slumbers in sweet repose on Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
