IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry
Sanford
March 26, 1943 – October 10, 2021
Larry Sanford, the third of eight children, was born in Nuyaka, Okmulgee County, to Lonnie J., and Ella L. Sanford. The family moved to Okmulgee, OK, where they bought property where Larry resided for many years and spent his final days.
Larry was drafted into the military. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was someone who knew lots of people, and lots of people knew him. Larry was an adventurous, outgoing, and fun-loving man who enjoyed riding horses, hunting for antiques, and most of all, fishing.
His curiosity and easy-going nature, made him a great listener and conversationalist, whether debating politics, exploring family matters, or discussing the state of the world. Larry would readily admit to being a bit of a rascal in his younger days. However, as he aged, he became a much more thoughtful, grateful, reflective, loving, and caring man, concerned with his spirituality and his loved ones.
Larry was greeted at Heaven's gates by his parents; sisters, Loretha Jacobs and Inell Washington; brothers, Lonnie Jr., James Roma, and Lawrence.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory: his companion and devoted caregiver, Tracye Wallace, and their combined family; his sons, Donald Ray (Debra) Sanford, Derrick (Mavis) Sanford, and Leon Sanford; one daughter, Zarah Whitfield; Dekovan Lamon Wallace, Misty (Chris) Brown, and Brittney (Aikil) Simmis; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Zelma (Otis) Snell; one brother, Donell Ray Sanford; one loving aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all loved him dearly.
Mr. Larry Sanford, in his 78th year, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from his home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
