Obituary
Mr. Larry Scroggins, a resident of Muskogee, passed from this life on Friday evening, November 5, 2010 in Muskogee.
" Reflection..................Remembrance"
It all began on January 15, 1953, when a baby boy was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Enois and Nona Mae [Shambly] Scroggins. He was named Larry Eugene Scroggins.
Larry was loved by everyone he knew and met. Larry began his walk with the Lord at an early age, while attending Union Baptist Church under the pastoral guidance of Reverend R. L. Hudson and later, was baptized in the name of Jesus at Union Baptist Church.
Larry attended school in Muskogee, where he graduated from Historic Manual Training High School. He also attended and graduated from Okmulgee State Technical School with a degree in Dry Cleaning.
Mr. Scroggins had a profound love for music, singing as well as playing the Saxophone. He and friends started a group called "The Dynamic Souls" and his friends gave him the nickname "Blind Mellow Jella", which became a household name in Muskogee.
Larry was joined in marriage to Helen Chaplin on April 10, 1978. He was employed by the Veterans Administration for a short while, and then later moved to Kansas City and worked with his "Uncle Blue", C. E. Scroggins in the dry cleaning business for a number of years before becoming disabled.
Larry Eugene Scroggins, in his 57th year, "Shuffled this Mortal Call" on Friday, November 5, 2010 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by Enois Scroggins, Sr., Nona Mae Scroggins and Patricia Scroggins.
Larry leaves to lament his death; his wife, Helen Scroggins; two sons and one daughter, Larry, Kevin and Larnetta; two loving step-children, Ladonna L. Riggins and Brian K. Chaplin; two sisters, Ruby J. [Alfred] Jones, El Reno, Oklahoma and Lorna M. Mackey, Muskogee, Oklahoma; a brother, Enois Scroggins, Wichita, Kansas; a life-long friend who was like a brother, Robert Greer; a special cousin, Jamesetta Denise Payne; along with a host of other relatives and many friends.
Services will be Saturday November 13, 2010 at 1PM at Antioch Baptist Church in Muskogee.
