Obituary

It all began in Boley, Oklahoma, when Larry Kytus Spears was born from the union of Fern [Summers] Wilson and Kytus Spears. Larry was raised by his grandparents, Wallace and Ellen [Burdine] Summers in Boley, whom he called Mom and Dad.    Better known as "Red Bone" to family and friends,  Larry grew up in Boley and attended Paden Public Schools in Paden, Oklahoma.

Mr. Spears was a hard working man and was determined to be successful in life.  He worked construction for many years at Manhattan Construction Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He was always determined to have his own business and be his own boss.  He started his own business of hauling hay in the summers and cutting wood in the winter.  He had several trucks and a crew of men working for him.  Larry was successful with this business, but he still had a desire for more.

In 1984, Larry decided to go into the residential health care business.  Over the years, he built four residential care homes and an out-patient treatment center, which provides employment to many and great services to lots of clients that are in need.

Mr. Spears married Yoko Cheek on January 30, 1969 in Boley, Oklahoma and their love was blessed with two children.  "Red Bone" was a Bull Rider and enjoyed being a Cowboy.  He was a member of the Boley Round Up Club for many years and also a member of St. John Baptist Church.  He will be remembered as a hard working , family oriented man who was always willing to help others, loved the rodeo and loved his family.

His time on Earth came to a close on Wednesday morning, December 7, 2016, as he "Dozed from Time to Eternity" with his loving family by his side.  He was preceded in death by his biological parents, Fern Wilson and Kytus Spears, his grandparents who raised him, Wallace and Ellen Summers, and his siblings, Frankie Summers, Wallace Summers, Emmery Summers, Pauline Williams, Lillie V. Williams, Patricia Johnson, Jerry Hubert Summers, Margie Summers and Saben Aldridge.

He leaves in God's care to cherish precious memories;  his loving wife, Yoko Spears;  his children, Ellengton [Calvin] Boyce and Larry [Erica] Spears, Jr.;  his grandchildren, Mark Montgomery, Calvin Boyce, III, Larry Spears, III and Espen Spears;  his siblings, Pinkie Toles, Norma Harge, Laura Toles, Mildrene Johnson, and Dwight Summers;  and a caravan of other relatives and many, many friends who will cherish his memory.

The Final Hour for Mr. Spears will commence on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM in the Amos Temple CME Church in Boley, Oklahoma.  Reverend Elmer E. LuGrand, his Pastor, will Officiate.  Burial will follow in the Eastlawn Cemetery in Boley.
