It all began on May 11, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, when a son was born to Bobbie Steward and Mose Stephens. This baby boy was named Larry.
Larry attended school in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. After graduating form High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as an Engineman for 2 years. He attended Flipper Chapel AME Church and as a teen became Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School and later became Superintendant.
After completing his service in the Navy, Larry became employed with Sun Oil Company, where he worked for over 30 years. During that time, he married Deborah Lynch. This union produced 2 children, Sharone and Larry Jr.
Those who knew Larry will remember him for his love of family, cars , horses, traveling and his infectious smile.
He leaves behind; his mother, Bobbie Ann Steward; his father, Mose & Naomi Stephens; a daughter, Sharone & Ron Malone; a son, Larry Jr., and Tanya; 4 grandchildren; 6 sisters and 7 brothers, Marcella, Gwendolyn, Carl, Kenneth, Carolyn, Derrick, Sharon, Rickey, Karen, Anito Jo, Keith, Daryl, and Reginald; his "other mom", Lenora Stephens; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The final tribute to Larry was on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Calvary Baptist Church of Sapulpa. Pastor Scott Gordon officiated. Entombment followed in the Green Hill Cemetery in Sapulpa.
