Obituary

Larry Eugene Wagner was born to Robert Leroy Wagner, Sr. and Mary Louise Byrd-Wagner on April 21, 1963 at Muskogee General Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the second child, of four, born to this union. Both of his parents and his youngest brother, Albert Lewis Wagner, preceded him in death.

Larry professed faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized into the Church of Christ. He grew up as a faithful and active member of the 18th & Denison Church of Christ, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. In this congregation Larry was known as the childhood, aspiring, minister and often conducted congregational music, among many other duties and responsibilities, from his childhood, into his early adult life. He was also active in the other area Churches of Christ; Central, Eastside, East Okmulgee, Westside and Muskogee Churches of Christ. Larry's childhood ministry also often took him to the surrounding area congregations, including; North Peoria, East Virgin St, (Tulsa, Oklahoma), Okmulgee and Red Bird Churches of Christ.

Larry was a product of the Muskogee School System, where he attended Edison Elementary School, Sadler Junior High School, Alice Robertson Jr. High School and graduated from Muskogee Senior High School, in the class of 1981, when he was in Who's Who Among American High School Students. Larry attended Abilene Christian University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1984, majoring in Ministry and Evangelism and Business Administration. His first ministry assignment was as the campus minister to the Sunrise Church of Christ in Tampa, Florida, from 1984 to 1989. His duties in this assignment were to be the campus minister representing this congregation, on the University of South Florida campus.

After this service, Larry returned to his studies, at Harding University, in Searcy Arkansas, where he received a postgraduate certification in Theology in 1991. He also subsequently received an Associate in Applied Science in Computer Software Applications from Penn Valley Community College, of Kansas City, Missouri in 1993. Larry resided in Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas, area from 1991 to 2003. He then journeyed to live in Atlanta, Georgia and there received a second Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, from Georgia State University. Additionally, Larry acquired the Certified Substance Abuse Counselor credential from the state of Georgia and worked in the field of substance abuse counseling and addiction recovery for the last years of his life.

Larry leaves to mourn his passing, one brother, Master Sergeant Robert Leroy Wagner, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, one sister, Patricia Louise Wagner, of Muskogee, Oklahoma and one sister in law, Corazon (Nita) Wagner of Wichita, Kansas. In the next generation, Larry leaves six nieces and nephews; Ameisha, Quinton, Alyssa, Ashlee, Gerrick and Jordan Wagner. Larry also leaves five maternal and paternal aunts; Florence Russell, Shirley Wagner, Betty Wagner-Rucker and Carolyn Wagner of San Diego, California along with Jamesetta Russell of Muskogee, Oklahoma. He leaves a host of brothers and sisters; in spiritual programs and fellowships, all over the country. Additionally, he leaves friends in the major cities where he has worked, including; Abilene, Dallas and Sweetwater, Texas, Muskogee, Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Searcy, Arkansas, Gainesville and Tampa, Florida, San Diego, California, Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas, and finally Atlanta, Georgia. He is loved and will be missed by many.
