Mr. Laurence Horton, a resident of Tulsa, traded Earth for Glory on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from his home in Tulsa.

Mr. Horton was born in Appalachia, Virginia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Lucille Horton on February 8, 1926. Laurence was united to Maggie Williams on July 1, 1977. He served in the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. He moved to Tulsa from Flint, Michigan where he was employed at McDonald Douglas. He retired in 1995 after 27 years of service. After retirement, Laurence enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with his wife, Maggie. Laurence was a devoted husband and father.

Mr. Horton was an elder of Amazing Graace Christian Center. His wisdom, counsel and quick wit was cherished among his church family. We all lovingly called him "Papa" Horton.

Mr. Horton leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Maggie; daughter, Annjanette; granddaughter, Icee; nephew Nelson Horton, Flint, MI., nephew Tommy and Beatrice Horton, Flint, MI., 2 nieces, Miranda M. Horton and Gloria A. Childress, Flint, MI., 6 sister-in-laws, Mary E. Horton, Flint, MI., Velely Boyd, Essie Franklin, Naoma and Tom Gannon, Linda Powell, Mildred Stilwell, 1 brother-in-law, Leamon Ransom, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Mr. Horton was preceded in death by his brother, William Horton, parents Jessie and Lucille Horton, sisters Mary Ellend Horton, and Mary Helen Barber.

Mr. Horton was a friend and "papa" to many who knew him. He enjoyed getting together with friends and family. He was an excellent example of a man, husband and father. Papa, we love you and we will truly miss you.

A loving Husband, father and friend, the final tribute will be Saturday May 3, 2008 at 11AM at Praise Center Family Church in Tulsa. Visitation will be Friday from 12Noon to 7PM
