Obituary

Mrs. Lavada Slaughter, after "Three Score and Ten Years" surrendered to the will of God on Thursday, April 1, 2010 from Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Lavada Simon Slaughter was born January 11, 1940 to Ulysses Simon and Eurevet Pugh in Weleetka, Oklahoma. She was one of 11 children. Lavada was preceded in death by her father, her husband, one son, Alfred D. Slaughter, one sister, Tennie Pugh and three brothers, Tommy Stewart, Ed Pugh and Luther Pugh.

Lavada received her formal education at Rose Wall Elementary and Clearview High School in Clearview, Oklahoma. She had worked for the Muskogee Regional Hospital as a Sterile Process Technician for many years until her retirement.

She was married to Alfred Dana Slaughter, who preceded her in death. She later met her trusted and beloved friend and companion of 23 years, John McIntosh.

Lavada accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of Christ Holy Mission, Muskogee, Oklahoma.

To sum up Lavada's life, she was someone very special to those who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Wilfred Dale Slaughter (Sylvia), Edmond, Oklahoma and one daughter, Loretta Nicole McIntosh, Muskogee, Oklahoma; her mother, Eurevet Pugh of Weleetka, Oklahoma; brothers: John Pugh and Jimmie Pickens of Weleetka, Oklahoma; sisters: Ramona Garrett and Georgia Pugh of Weleetka, Oklahoma, Nora Pugh Seemster (William) of Oklahoma City and June Jackson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends, including a special cousin Jo Carter.

The final tribute will be on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the First Missionary Baptist Church.
