Obituary

A Time to be Born:

On March 21, 1941 in Dripping Springs, Oklahoma , the Lord blessed Lonnie and Ella Sanford with a beautiful baby boy whom they named Lawrence. He was the second child born to this union. Both parents preceded him in death.

A Time to Live:

Lawrence started his education in the Rosenwald School System. His family moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where he continued his education in the local school system, first attending Banker Elementary and from there to Dunbar High School, where he graduated in 1958.

Lawrence continued his education after High School at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.

After college Lawrence spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador, South America, working as an Agriculture Agent. Following the Peace Corps, he served his country for two years in the United States Army as a Veterinarian Assistant, where he received an honorable discharge as a Specialist 5 th Class.

On May 9, 1981, Lawrence married the " Love of his life" Linda Gayle and with this union they shared five children and forty years of marriage.

During Lawrence's life he worked hard for his family, he began his career at PPG Industries, Inc. , then moved to Public Service Company of Oklahoma as a Nuclear Procurement Quality Assurance Specialist . After many years of dedicated work, he retired from Dowell, Schlumberger as a Quality Control Project Coordinator .

After Lawrence retired he enjoyed walking, cooking, sitting on the porch, chatting with his high school friends , time at the casino and spending time with his family.

A Time to Die:

Lawrence finished his course here on earth in peaceful serenity on Thursday morning, August 12, 2021. He was greeted at Heavens gate by his parents, sisters, Loretha Jacobs and Inell Washington, brothers, Lonnie Sanford, Jr. and James Roma Sanford.

A Time to Mourn:

In our grief, we understand that Lawrence lives on in all of us as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory and to be inspired by his compassionate spirit, his devoted and loving wife, Linda ; his children, Joe, Kynthia , Jerry, Lamont(Lanita) and Kendall; his brothers, Larry and Donnell Sanford and one sister, Zelma (Otis) Snell. Lawrence also leaves his love to his grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a host of cousins and dear friends
