Lee Arthur Anderson, Jr., 75, passed away on January 17, 2018 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He was born on September 5, 1942 in Haskell, Oklahoma to Lee Arthur and Rosalie Anderson.
Lee grew up in Haskell, Oklahoma and attended Booker T. Washington High School in Haskell. Lee moved to Oakland, California where he attended Castlemont High School and graduated. He worked for P.I.E. on the dock during the graveyard shift. He was one of the first African Americans to join Teamsters Union. Lee later became a Line Driver, both individually and as a Team driver. He worked for and was an active member of Teamsters Union until he retired.
Lee married Mildred in 1965 in Oakland, California. Lee was a deacon at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, a choir member and a member of the Boy Scouts at Bethel. He enjoyed attending the car races, drag races, truck/tractor pull, bowling, sports rodeos and being in the country. He also received several safe driving awards as well as a few trophies with a bowling league of which he and Mildred were members. Lee loved life and met no strangers.
Lee is survived by his children: Daphne Vanese Anderson-Hood of Cedar Hill, Texas, LaShel Sonya Anderson-Preston of Arlington, Texas, Melissa LaRHea Barnett-Phillips of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Leal Jurice Anderson of Austin, Texas and Candice Jamel Anderson-Gordon of Plano, Texas; his brothers and sisters: Pastor John (First Lady Margaret) Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Norma (Alvin) Anderson-Panell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Vern Anderson-Webb of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Mary Anderson-Woods of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pastor Claudius (Mildred) Anderson of Chicago, Illinois, Micah (Barbara) Anderson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Charles (Marlene) Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mitchell (Javonna) Anderson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren: Willie, Hood, Jr., Dahlaechia Hood, Stacia Phillips, Stacy Phillips, Moiya Phillips, Melea Phillips, Skylar Phillips, Jordan Anderson, Emanon Gordon, Jr., Courtland Gordan, Alexander Anderson and CaMille Gordon; his great-grandchild Aevin Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents and two of his siblings.
