Obituary

Mother Lena McClarty, a resident of Grayson, Oklahoma in her 89th season, transitioned from earth to glory on Tuesday, March 25, 2008.

She was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma on April 8, 1918, the daughter of George Yarber and Lillie Gleason. She attended school in Omaha, Nebraska and spent most of her life there. While in Omaha, she was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church for 65 years. Mother McClarty was active and involved in the Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, in the Choir, the Mission Board and also Church Secretary.

She was employed as a Corrections Officer for the Douglas County Sheriff in Omaha before her retirement.

Mother McClarty returned to Oklahoma in 2003 and united with the Lone Tree Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons, a brother and a sister.

Remaining to wait on the Lord; her son, Raymond [Virgilia] Givens, Omaha, Nebraska; 2 daughters, Lille [Deroys] Dorsey, Grayson, Oklahoma and Patricia [Wallace] Barron, Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, James Johnson, Omaha, Nebraska; along with a caravan of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The Farewell will be on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Union Baptist Church. Rev. Louis Hanson, Pastor of Lone Tree Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Grayson cemetery. You may visit Mother McClarty as she slumbers at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM to 6 PM.
