Obituary

Mr. Leonard Leroy Lewis, transitioned from "Earth to Everlasting Memory" on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from his home in Okmulgee.

Leonard Leroy Lewis, the son of the late Preston Lewis, Sr., and Ernestine [Turner] Lewis was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on April 3, 1942.  He was one of 18 siblings in the family.


Better known as "Lee Boy" by family and friends, Leonard was a life long resident of Okmulgee, growing up on the Westside and attended Okmulgee Public Schools, culminating with graduation from Historic Dunbar High School.


After high school, enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably as a Paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division.  He then furthered his education studying printing at Oklahoma State University Technological School after his service in the Army.


During his lifetime, Lee Boy was a hardworking man, where he worked in the construction industry, a painter and later as a security guard for many years before his retirement.


Leonard enjoyed playing sports in schoola and loved watching sports on television.  He was artistic and a very nice singing voice. He had a great sense of humor, a quiet personality and enoyed being to himself most of the time.


He married his wife, Sharon on December 8, 2006.  Both of them with quiet personalities and also home body's, the mad a great pair and enjoyed life together.


Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, his daughters, Sandra [Terri] Lewis, Barbara [Barb] Lewis, and Sanya Lewis; his siblings, Kenneth Ray Lewis, Preston Lewis, Jr., Albert Lewis, Wilbert Lewis, Albert Lewis, Clarice Lewis, Linda K. Johnson, James Lewis, Sterling Lewis, Sr., Jerry Lewis, Herbert Lewis, Sr., Pauline Brinkley, and Helen Figures.


He leaves in God's care;  his wife, Sharon;  a daughter, Felicia [Dinki] Lewis; brothers, Steven Lewis, Derrek Lewis (Lana), sisters, Lurline Owens, Iretha Rice (Bees), Cheryl Harrison (Ronald); along with a caravan of other relatives, including grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The Hour of Remembrance for Mr. Lewis will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the First Baptist Church-Okmulgee.  Reverend Darren Williams, Pastor, will preside.

The Christian Committal will follow the service in the Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee.
