Mr. Leonard "Blue" Underwood, after 64 years, left this life for a life eternal on Friday morning, August 31, 2018 from Kansas City, Missouri.
Leonard "Blue" Underwood was born on July 28, 1954 to Willie and Annabell (Vealy) Underwood. Shortly after his birth, he went to live with Curtis and Rosie (Brown) Goodson. They raised him to an adult, while always allowing him to stay in touch with his birth parents and siblings.
Blue attended 1st thru 8th grade at Wainwright School System, and then attended Boynton Public Schools until his graduation in 1973, where he loved playing basketball. After graduation, he attended Northeastern Oklahoma A & M for a semester before returning home to help Curtis on the farm.
In 1974, Blue went to work at Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, where he advanced to a Special Equipment Operator, he spent 35 years with them until he retired in 2009.
In 1997, he began a relationship with Mary Brown that led to marriage in 2014. They were each other's soul mates and spent a wonderful 21 years together.
Blue was preceded in death by both sets of his parents Willie and Annabel Underwood and Curtis and Rosie Goodson; His brothers, James Barnett and Clarence Underwood and a very special granddaughter Alex Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of the home Mary Underwood; a step-son Roger (Joann) Adair, of Edmond, Oklahoma; a step-daughter Becky Smith of Nashville, Tennessee; his grand children, Jennifer and Sarah Adair, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kyle (Kayla) Adair, of Daytona Beach, Florida, Amanda Smith of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kathy Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; his Great-Grand Daughters, Kali & AJ Weathers, Kansas City, Missori and his Great-Grandson, Colby Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri; his Brothers, Willie Tate, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Edwin (Carolyn) Underwood of Lewisville, Texas, Raymond Underwood, Dallas, Texas, Tracy Underwood, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Fred (Florie) Underwood, Arlington, Texas, and Frank (Margaret) Taylor of Taft, Oklahoma; his Sisters, Melva and Willie Mae Underwood, Muskogee, Oklahoma; his Special sister Clifetta Harrison of Boynton, Oklahoma; his Sister-in-law, Joanie (Doug) Hueitt; his Brothers-in-law, Danny (Karen) Wilson, West Rotunda, Florida and David (Kathie) Wilson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; along with a caravan of other relatives and many friends.
The Hour of Remembrance for "Blue" will be shared on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 2:30 PM in the most holy sanctuary of the Rayfield Baptist Church. Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., will preside.
Burial will follow in the Friday Cemetery at Haskell, Oklahoma.
You may visit Mr. Underwood on Friday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Rayfield Baptist Church, and on Saturday, beginning at 12:30 PM until 2:15 PM. The Casket will not be opened at the conclusion of the service.
