Obituary

On March 10, 1967, in Santa Clara, California, a daughter was born to Charles and Barbara Stewart Morrison. She was the second born of two children and they named their beloved gift, Lesly Rene'.


Lesly was educated in the California and Arizona school districts and continued her college education at Northwest College of Arts in Portland, Oregon and Connors State College of Nursing in Warner, Oklahoma, completing her desire to become a Registered Nurse.


Lesly confessed her life to Christ at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, under the pastorage of Pastor Ralph Boyattia, where she remained a faithful member until her death. As her health began to fail, she continued to serve Christ as often as she could.


Lesly was married on September 2, 1995 to Anthony Porter. Their union was blessed with two children, Alexandria Rene' and Eric Martell. She often had other children that she mothered. Lesly's life was based on caregiving to both adults and children.


Lesly worked for American Airlines, and as a RN, she worked for Premier Health Care, Muskogee Regional Medical Center, as a traveling nurse at Kaiser Hospital in California and Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa as well as the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center before her disabilty retirement.


In her 45th year, Lesly Rene' Porter closed her eyes on earth, but woke up in "Glory" on Sunday morning, April 15, 2012 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Lesly is now at peace and rejoicing with the family who were waiting for her at Heaven's gate; her grandfathers, Freddie L. Stewart and Charles H. Morrison, her Uncles, Freddie L. Stewart, Jr., and John Bennett, her Aunts, Othella Stevens and Claudia Simon, her cousins, Mark Speed, Mark Simon and her Mother-in-law, Barbara Ann Porter.


She leaves in God's care to cherish memories of her life; her devoted husband, Anthony John Porter; four children, Alexandria, Eric, Lynetta Porter, Muskogee and Anthony [Lainey] Porter, Jr., Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her parents, Charles and Barbara Morrison, Muskogee; her brothers, Michael [Lisa] Morrison, Oktaha, Oklahoma, Jeremiah Morrison; her sister, Krystal Morrison; her nieces, Michaela Morrison, Amber Sevier; her nephews, Nicholas Morrison and Bronson Johnson, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her grandmothers, Cora Stewart-Taylor, East Point, Georgia and Elnora Morrison, Muskogee; three grandchildren, Sade, Raya and Prinz-Rick; her father-in-law, Lonnie Porter, Tulsa, Oklahoma; her Aunts, Patricia [Ed] Link, Tucson, Arizona, Carol Speed, East Point, Georgia and Elouise Jones, Muskogee; along with other relatives and friends.

The Celebration of her life will be on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Minister Bobby Carter will Officiate.
