Lessie Mae Pierce was born on December 25, 1941 in Eufaula, Oklahoma from the union of Willard and Eddie Mae Pierce.
The Pierce family moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma a few years later, where Lessie Mae grew up. She attended the Okmulgee Public Schools, including Historic Dunbar High School.
Lessie felt the overwhelming love of God tugging at her heart and gave her life to Him. She joined Eastside Church of God in Christ in Okmulgee and later joined Northside Evangelistic Temple Church of God in Christ in Preston, Oklahoma and remained a faithful servant until her health failed her.
After a lengthy illness, Lessie Mae Johnson, after 63 years, Triumphantly ran into the Arms of her Savior on Saturday morning, February 4, 2006 from Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Nathaniel Fields.
She leaves in her Heavenly Father's care; her children, Floyd Younger[Katherine], Tulsa, OK and Sheila Johnson, Okmulgee, OK; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Willard Pierce, Jr., Phoenix, AZ, Walter Pierce, Oklahoma City, OK, Alphonso Pierce, Muskogee, OK, James Pierce, Okmulgee, OK, Jerry Pierce, Fort Worth, TX, Donald Johnson, Dallas, TX and Rodney Johnson, Tulsa, OK; her sisters, Willie Mae Joyner, Tulsa, OK, Alva Lois Pierce, Tulsa, OK, Mary Ann Jefferson, Okmulgee, OK, Angela Hollingsworth, Tulsa, OK and Gina Brinkley, Tulsa, OK; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
The Celebration will be on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Rev. David Burks, the gracious host Pastor, Elder Jackie Jones, Officiant and Elder Ralph Bagby, Eulogist. The Christian committal will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee.
