Obituary

Mrs. Leta "Judy" Grayson, daughter of the late Prince and Willie Mae Myers was born on August 21, 1942 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She attended Dunbar and Sadler public schools in Muskogee and graduated from Historic Manual Training High School with the Class of 1960. She briefly attended Langston University on a swimming scholarship and later attended Business College, where she obtained her degree in Business.

At an early age, Judy professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She later moved her fellowship to Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the late Dr. B. W. Noble. Judy served the Lord faithfully in several committee's and was also the Church Pianist.
Judy united in holy matrimony to Walter Lee Grayson and from this union, two children were born; Kevin and Karen.

Mrs. Grayson was an active member of various Chapters and organizations including the Queen Bathsheba Grand Chapter, Adah Chapter #5, Prince Hall Grand High Court, of the OES and Heroines of Jericho, Herman E. Duncan #26, Oklahoma State Grand Assembly, Order of the Golden Circle, Electa Assembly #36, Past State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler, [which was the highest position to be held], Glorietta F. Duncan Grand Guild, Mary Lou Whitby #2, Past Deputy Grand Princess Captain Desert of Oklahoma and Hira Court #155.

Judy was employed by Oklahoma Children's Center in Taft, Oklahoma, until their closing and later became a house parent for the Lloyd E. Rader Institute and gained manager status until her retirement after 25 years of service.

She was very outspoken and would tell you like it was, and would wait on you to challenge her. She loved her children and her grandchildren unconditionally. She had a hand in raising her nieces, nephews, all who affectionately called her Aunt Goondie, Aunt Shooie and Aunt Girl. A great role model to all she came in contact with.

On the evening of August 14, 2020, Judy quietly departed this life at home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter Grayson of 44 years of marriage, and a great-grandson, Floyd Davenport, IV.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children; Kevin [Carla Faye] Grayson, Omaha, Nebraska and Karen Grayson, Muskogee, Oklahoma; three siblings, Larry P. Myers, Muskogee, Lesa Engram, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and LaSarah Myers, Tulsa, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; along with a caravan of devoted family members, friends and church family. Like the dew in the morning, gently rest upon our hearts.
