Obituary
Levi Walter Harlin Jr., in his 70th season, traded his "Cross for a Crown" on July 9, 2013.
On May 7, 1943 a beautiful baby boy was born to the late Levi Sr. and Nolan Harlin in Chouteau, Oklahoma. He was the first born of four children.
Growing up in Claremore, Oklahoma Levi accepted Christ at an early age. Levi graduated from Claremore High School class of 1961. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1967. In 1968, Levi began his career at American Airlines where he took pride in his job up until his retirement in 2005.
On January 6, 1979, Levi married Loretta Jones. Together they created a beautiful family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather creating many happy times and precious memories. Levi was an avid sportsman, playing with the "Tulsa Jets" fast pitch softball for 10 years. Everyone that he came across knew that he loved any and everything about OU. Levi was also known for coaching football, basketball, and baseball and was well respected by all that came in contact with him. Levi was faithful, dedicated and committed to his religious beliefs where he was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church under the Rev. M.C. Potter. He was always willing to help wherever and whenever necessary. Levi loved his children... but his grandchildren sparked a radiant beam of enthusiasm. They kept him on the move, trying to make it to everything that they were involved in.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, daughter Carmen (T.C.), and granddaughter Carmeisha. His memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife of 34 years Loretta, four children: Tracy and Stacy, Kansas City, MO, Terrance (Rosetta), Edmond, OK, and Marquis (Tia), Tulsa, OK. Eleven grandchildren: Tre'awna, Kristian, Thomas, Carmisha, Terrance Jr., TyReece, Jacob, Miangel, Stacia, Makenzie, and Marquis Jr. One brother: Larry (Brenda), Tulsa, Ok. Two sisters: Joyce (Stanley), Claremore, OK and Carol, Tulsa, OK. Two brothers in-law: Charles (Helen), Tulsa, OK. and Raymond (Althea), Killeen, TX. Uncle James Harlin (Marge), Dallas, TX and Aunt Nathan Gardner, Claremore, OK., along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services will be Friday July 19, 2013 at 11AM at Antioch Baptist Church in Tulsa. Friends may visit Mr. Harlin on Thursday from 10AM until 7PM in Tulsa.
