Obituary

Mrs. Lillie Mae Clark was called home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014 from her home in Muskogee.

The first of seven children born into this family, she arrived on July 25, 1930 in Eufaula, Oklahoma from the union of Leroy Thomas, Sr., and Alberta Glazier Thomas.

"Mama Lil" as she was affectionately called because she was mother to all of her siblings with love, the name stuck with her. The family moved to Fort Gibson when she was 9 years old. She attended Four Mile Branch school where Mrs. Nero was her teacher. The family later moved to Muskogee, where she attended Historic Manual Training High School. She obtained her cosmetology license under the direction of Mrs. Miller.

While in High School, she courted and later married Herman Clark. From this union, five children were born. She helped her husband provide for the family through domestic labor and was a loving, caring homemaker. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie, and other relatives.

She leaves in God's care; her children, Charles [Shirley] , Shelia, Tammy Joe and Shawn [Lauren]; two sisters, Doris [Donald] McKnight and Josephine Newton; a brother, Frank Thomas; one Aunt, Zelma; one uncle, Clyde; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Hour of Remembrance for Mrs. Clark will be shared on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. in the most Holy sanctuary of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Reverend Gary Hall, Senior Pastor, will preside.

Burial will follow in the Booker T. Washington Cemetery in Muskogee.

You may visit her as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
