Mrs. Lillie Mae Spencer, in her 91st year, dozed into eternal slumber on Monday, September 24, 2007 in Wichita, Kansas.
Lillie Mae Spencer was born in Checotah, Oklahoma on April 7, 1916, the tenth of twelve children born to John and Lillie [Dawson] Cobb.
She grew up in Checotah, where she attended school. Later in life, she married H. T. Craig and they remained married until his death in 1980. From this union, two daughters were born. The family lived in Wichita for 47 years until Lillie Mae moved to Muskogee and married Hoffman Spencer in 1982. After his death, she returned to Wichita, where she remained until the end.
She leaves to cherish her memory; two daughters, Rosemarie Craig--Winn and Henrietta Craig, both of Wichita, Kansas; two grandsons, Nicomus J. Craig and wife, Cassey L. Craig, and Deauntay M. Mitchell; five great-grandchildren, Diont Treveiz Craig, Henrietta Marie Craig, Nicomus J. Craig, Jr., Stephonie K. L. Craig and Sierra Najariee Craig, all of Wichita, Kansas; along with other relatives and friends.
The final hour with Mrs. Spencer will be on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Rev. Larry H. Smith, Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, will officiate.
