Obituary

Mrs. Lois Marjorie Sharp, after 82 seasons, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from Muskogee, Oklahoma.

In the fall of 1929, E.L. and Ethel [Billups] Sharp were blessed with a new addition to their family. This precious baby girl, the third of seven children, was named Lois Marjorie.

At an early age, she professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church in Red Bird. She attended Miller Washington School in Red Bird, developing a love for reading and storytelling. She loved to watch old westerns on television and was an avid storyteller; no matter how many times she told the story, it was always like hearing it for the first time.

She loved gardening and made sure she would plant a fresh garden each year until her health would no longer allow her to. Over the years, she developed into a homemaker, where she dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family; her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren included, until the day she went to be with the Lord. She was the "glue" that held her family together and her memory will continue to do the same. Everyone, including the neighborhood children, lovingly called her "G-Mama" and she will be greatly missed.

"G-Mama" was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Leonard Sharp and Ethel Sharp, her sisters, Idella Brown and Helen Holt, her brother, Harold M. Sharp, her sons, Herbert E. Wallace, Curtis Gilyard, and Anthony Gilyard; a daughter, Lois J. Leeks, and a grandson, Anthony Dion Scott.

She leaves in God's care; her children, Charles M. [Bernadette] Murrell, Las Vegas, Nevada, Arthur J. [Ruth] Leeks, Jr., Wanda J. Shumate, Casandra L. Leeks, all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Tanya R. Porter, Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Dottie L. Gilyard, Tuscon, Arizona; two grandchildren she raised as he own, Arthur J. Leeks, III, Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Pamela O. Leeks-Ashley, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 14 other grandchildren; a caravan of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Hour of Remembrance will Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Faith Deliverance Christian Center. Burial will follow in the Red Bird Cemetery.

You may visit "G-Mama" as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until 6 PM.
