Obituary

Mr. Loly Page, age 82 and a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

On September 6, 1927, a baby boy was born to Mary Brown Page and Loly Page in Bristow, Oklahoma. They named him Loly, after his dad. At an early age, the family moved to Tulsa, where he attended Dunbar Elementary, Carver Junior High and Booker T. Washington High School.

He met and married Ruth Evelyn Harper on October 1, 1945. To this union, four children were born. Loly was employed at American Airlines, where he held numerous positions for 33 years. Additionally, he worked in the food service industry.

He united with Morning Star Baptist Church at an early age and remained faithful until his demise. He was a member of the Brotherhood Ministry, Deacon Ministry and Sunday School Department. He was a dedicated supporter of the Youth Department and accompanied them on numerous trips going to the local, district, state and national conferences. He was a baseball coach for Tulsa Public Schools for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-parents, Sampson and Exie Sutherland.

Loly leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 64 years, Ruth, of the home in Tulsa; a son, James E. [Helen] Page; 3 daughters, Evelyn Page, Loleta Guillory and Delores Chaney, all of Tulsa; 5 grandchildren, Alecia Page, Oklahoma City, David [Yolanda] Page, Little Rock, Arkansas, Bryan [Tierra] Page, Midwest City, Oklahoma, Captain Kayla Guillory, San Antonio, Texas, and Charels Anthony Chaney, III, Muskogee, Oklahoma; 3 great-grandchildren, Emari Jordan, William David Page and Brooke Alexis Page; a brother, Benjamin [Theresa] Scott, Tulsa, Oklahoma; 4 sisters-in-law, Naomi Johnson, Cincinnati, Ohio, Helen Washington, San Francisco, California, Opal Hicks and Melba Chaplin, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a special cousin, Thelma I. Reed, Tulsa; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The Tribute will be on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the Morning Star Baptist Church. Reverend Herbert Edmondson, III, Senior Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

You may visit Mr. Page, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 Noon to 7 PM.
