Lon D. Gilford was born to the loving union of Jeff and Theo Cotton Gilford on July 2, 1937. He was the third of six children born into this family.

In his early years, he was married to Rose Mary McNac and this union produced seven children, one which preceded him in death.

He enjoyed keeping a clean home, collecting rings and dressing "stylishly sharp" and was always the life of the crowd when visiting with his family and friends.

He accepted the Lord as his personal Savior a few years ago and will be missed by those who knew him.

His time on earth came to a close on Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Gary Lane Gilford and Suree Gilford; a sister and four brothers.

He leaves to cherish his memory; six children, Clark Gilford, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Lon Gilford, Jr., Wagoner, Oklahoma, Steven Gilford, Neosho, Missouri, Allen Gilford, Muskogee, Oklahoma, Ruffus Gilford, New Mexico and Cinda Gilford, Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The final hour with Mr. Gilford will be on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 10:00 A.M., a graveside ceremony in the Elmwood Cemetery in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Elder Kevin Clayton will officiate.

You may visit Mr. Gilford, as he slumbers in peaceful repose at the funeral home in Muskogee on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
