On June 19, 1949, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, a baby girl was the first born
child of Louis Myers, Sr., and Henryetta [Island] Myers.
They named her Loretta.
She accepted Christ at an early age at Blackjack Missionary Baptist
Church and began her formal education at Douglas Elementary School,
then on to Sadler Jr. High School and then Historic Manual Training
High School, where she graduated with the Prestigious Class of 1967.
She also attended Northeastern State College.
It was during her senior year at Manual, where she first met the love
of her life, Taft Hickman and their union was blessed with three
beautiful daughters; Denise, Lisa and Michelle. Loretta loved and
supported her children throughout adulthood and beyond. She also gave
unselfishly to family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was
helping others, shopping, gardening and spending time with her
grandchildren.
On November 14, 2013, " a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother,
great-grandmother and friend" transitioned from life to everlasting
from Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents and
other loved ones.
Those that wait upon the Lord and remain to cherish her memory; her
daughters, Denise [Lenny], Wagoner, Oklahoma, Lisa, Memphis, Tennessee
and Michelle, Muskogee; four grandchildren, Chris [Janay], Brandon
[Demetrius], Jazlyn [Anthony] and Mya; a great-grandchild, Anthony
Arron Taylor, III; three sisters, Dee Myers, Bessie Mae Jones and
Patricia K. [Gary] Burleson; a brother, Louis Myers, Jr.; a special
Aunt, Bonnie Jean Wilson; and a caravan of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Ceremony will be shared to Celebrate her life on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rayfield Baptist Church. The Pastor, Reverend Leroy Walker, Sr., will Preside.
Friends may sign the register at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until 5 PM.
