Dr. Mother Evangelist Lorraine Hale Bryant
Mother Lorraine Hale Bryant was born on July 19, 1935 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to the late Johnnie and Viola Armstrong. Mother Hale graduated from Historic Manual Training High School with the Class of 1953. She furthered her education at Wiley College in Wiley, Texs, where she majored in English and Business while also minoring in music.
In 1958, she met and married Willie B. Hale and settled in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The two [along with the Minnesota State Baptist Convention Choir] traveled worldwide singing; and Lorraine had such a gifted operatic soprano voice, Willie B., and Lorraine frequently sang for Dr. Martin Luther King. After finally settling in, to this union was born Janice, John and Jane.
Mrs. Hale had an extensive career in Social Work, working as Associate Director for Minneapolis Urban League. She helped to develop the Housing Authority in North Minneapolis, working at TCOIC as the Director and founder of COPE - which means Comprehensive Opportunities for Promoting Employment. This program mentored and taught job-related skills and training.
Mrs. Hale was also the founder of the Sickle Cell Foundation in Minnesota. She also worked at the University of Minnesota in the Office of Multicultural Programs, where she helped students from all over the world become acclimated to the U of M. Mrs. Hale was also a professor of African American Studies at Mankato State University in Minnesota.
In 1983, Mother Hale felt the call to the ministry. She was ordained as an Evangelist by Dr. Willa Grant Battle of Grace Temple Deliverance Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In 1985, Evangelist Lorraine Hale-Bryant re-located to Oklahoma to do social work helping victims of Domestic Violence as she continued to travel and work in the ministry.
In 1987, she was given the opportunity to work as the Associate Director at the Regional Office of the Urban League in Chicago, Illinois. While working at the Regional Office of the Urban League, as a result of her hard work and life of service, she was given an Honorary Doctorate, becoming Dr. Lorraine Hale-Bryant. In 1993, Dr. Lorraine Hale Bryant became the CEO of the Waukegon Urban League.
In 1995, she lost her best friend, Willie B. Hale to Cancer. She then moved back to Muskogee, Oklahoma to care for her mother. Evangelist Lorraine Hale Bryant continued to travel and do ministry throughout the United Staes and abroad.
In 1999, she became a member of Faith Deliverance Christian Center, under the direction of Apostle Lathon and Pastor Marnita Archie. Mother Hale continued to serve in the ministry at Faith Deliverance in addition to traveling and continuing her Evangelistic work.
She touched the lives of many all over the world. She was further able to be a blessing after God gave her a recipe to make anointed oil. Her oil has been widely distributed to Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, China and of course the United States.
Mother Hale has children all over the world. Her reach was broad. She has impacted the lives of so many with just a spoken word, delivering those who need help from themselves. She has cared for senior citizens and even took in people who were abused with nowhere to go. Even neighboring children were able to come eat, pastors were able to sit at her feet and learn. As she became older, she could still speak an annointed word and catch the ear of the Lord.
On Friday, October 2, 2020, Dr. Mother Evangelist Lorraine Hale Bruyant worshipped her way into the presence of Our Savior.
Mother Hale was preceded in death by her parents, and 5 brothers; L. J. Armstrong, Leo Armstrong, Barry Armstorng, Herman Armstrong, and James Loney.
She leaves in Gods care; her chlidren, Janice Hale Richardson [Cassanova], John Hale [Amy], Jane Hale Goins, Verdale Goins; her brothers, Willie Crisp and Anthony Loney; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends..
A public Memorial Celebration honoring her life will be announced and shared at a later date.
