Obituary

On July 27, 1941, Louie and Naomi Ashley(Ratliff) were blessed with their first bundle of joy. The eldest of nine, Louie Ashley Jr. was born and raised in the town of Okay, Oklahoma, where he also accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He attended Lincoln High School in Wagoner, Oklahoma and upon graduating high school, Louie met his first love and the woman who would bear his six children. Louie and Claudia [Hitchye] Ashley were together for over 45 years before Claudia was picked from her earthly home and placed in God's eternal care.  Later in life, Louie found companionship with a lifelong friend, Gloria Thomas.  Their friendship grew into love and they were married.  Gloria shared her life and love with Louie and nurturing, loving care to her husband, remaining at his side until his passing.

Louie decided to further his education at Connors State College. Soon after leaving Connors, Louie made a patriotic commitment to join the United States Army and serve his country with pride. He served his term and occupied many professions before working as an X-ray Technician at Muskogee Regional Medical Center for over 30 years. Louie loved fishing, collecting vinyl records, pimping out his cars, and to occasionally bask in enjoying his favorite peanuts and a cold pop.  He also had a passion for collecting Hats.  Louie was best known for his substantial smile and his comedic personality, and you could always find him cutting up a dance floor. Louie's greatest joy came from spending time with his loving grandchildren, who each had a fun nickname for him such as "Papa Lou", "Pops", and "Popi", aside from just calling him "PaPa".

In his 76th year of life on earth, Louie Ashley, Jr., embarked upon eternal life, in Glory.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles, and his first wife, Claudia.

Those that wait on the Lord and cherish his memory;  his loving and devoted wife, Gloria Ashley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his children Sondra Lyons(Garry) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cedric Ashley(Regina) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bonita Ashley, Louie Ashley III(Lavoris), Crystal Ashley, Victor Ashley(Hope) all of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Ramona Hooker and Wade Cozart, both of Missouri;  his siblings, Gwendolyn, Joseph, Clarence, Frederick, Lawana, all of Okay, Oklahoma, Annette of Dallas, Texas, and Lolita of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren;  and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The Hour of Reflection will commence on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the most holy sanctuary of The Antioch Church, 500 West Broadway Avenue in Muskogee.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Gibson Station, Oklahoma near Okay.
