Obituary

Lucille Finley was born March 17, 1947, in Boynton , Oklahoma to Aaron and Mammie Finley.   She was the tenth of ten children born to this union. The Finley family later moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma where  Lucille graduated from Dunbar High School.  God Blessed Lucille with two sons  Freddie and Derl and they were the love of her life.

Lucille came to know the Lord at an early age and first attended the Mt Zion Baptist Church of Okmulgee under the leadership of J.B Brown.  She moved to Tulsa, September 3, 1974, she later joined the Galilee Baptist Church under Pastor Pike.

Lucille started her career in the restaurant business at Kelly's in Okmulgee, then moved to Tulsa . After relocating to Tulsa,  she started a career as nurse assistant to  Dr. Bates, then property management, working for Tulsa Housing Authority/Sunset Apartments for 4 years. She later began working for Good Will Industries and Wal-Mart where she retired after 17 years.  After retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher for Tulsa Public Schools.

Lucille joined OES Paradise Chapter #97 in 2012.  She was a dedicated member of the Eastern Star and had been crowned Queen at Grand Session of the Queen Bathsheba Grand Chapter in 2014-2015. She was known for her great sense of humor.  She loved people, and could make anyone laugh as she never met a stranger.  She loved making desserts and decorating and was always willing to lend a hand to help people in all areas of life. She fed the hungry and nursed the sick when in need.  She enjoyed doing community service events. She would often enjoy being Mrs. Klaus for the children that were sick in the hospital and at Masonic Lodge Christmas parties. Lucille would always put others before herself.

Mrs. Lucille Finley in her 74th year,  dozed into the tranquil peace of eternal slumber on Monday morning, June 28, 2021 from her home in Tulsa, with her loving family near her side.

Lucille is preceded in death by her parents: Aaron and Mammie Finley, Brothers: Clarence, Ben, Jeff David, Samuel, Aaron Jr. and Alvin Finley  Sisters: Dorothy Edmondson,  Kae Chambers,  May Finley, Cora Irene Conley and her oldest son Freddie Williams Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Son: Derl Finley (Keet)  Grandchildren:  Jesse (JJ), Melody, Monique, De'Ja, Chance, Kaylon and Iah; Great Grand  children Islei,  Jesse Jr. and Skye all of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews other relatives/friends and  close friends; Frances, Anne Dodd, Clarice and Mac Washington, childhood friend Frances and her loving Soul Mate  Lloyd Sterns

There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 6:00 PM in the Tulsa Chapel.

Services will be held on July 10, 2021 at 11:00 AM. in the most holy sanctuary of  St. John Baptist Church located at 1802 N. Troost Ave., Tulsa, OK.

Reverend Rex Woodfork, Pastor of St. John Baptist Church will officiate.

You may visit Lucille as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 10:00AM - 6:00PM in the Tulsa Chapel.

Burial will immediately follow the services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
