On November 20, 1928, a baby girl was born to Virgil and Nettie [Worley] Whitfield in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. She was named Lucille Ellen.
She attended school in Muskogee and was a lifelong resident of the area. Lucille attended Nursing School in Tulsa and was a nurse at Muskogee General Hospital for many years.
She loved kids, kids and kids. They were her joy of life and she also enjoyed Gardening and shopping, for the kids, of course.
She closed her eyes on Earth but awoke in Heaven on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, with her loving family near her side to witness. he was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dan Edgar Phipps.
Ellen leaves in God's care; her sons, Virgil Phipps, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jessie Phipps, Muskogee, Dan Phipps, Tulsa and Bryan Phipps, Muskogee; her daughers, Diane Blackwood, Atwater, California, Donna Murray, Muskogee and Ellen Berryhill, Holdenville, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Service of Memory for Ms. Phipps will be on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM, graveside ceremony at the National Cemetery at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.
