On April 30, 1962, a baby boy was born to Harold G. Martins, Sr., and Mary Debouse Martin. They named him Lucious Durnel Martin. Better known as "Hoss"by all of his friends, Lucious joined First Baptist Church of Rentiesville at an early age under the pastorage of the late Reverend. W. H. Phillips. He was a faithful member, singing in the Choir until he moved away.


Lucious attended Checotah Public School, graduating with the Class of 1980. Lucious played Basketball as well as Football. he was an all around guy in school and the community.


Lucious held several jobs in the Checotah and Eufaula area, including Nichols Super Saver, Eufaula Police Department and Checotah Police Department. Later, Lucious moved to Oklahoma City, where he gained employment at Target Department Store. At the time of his death, he was employed with the National Oil Well Varco.


Those who have gone on before him; his father, Harold Martin and his grandparents. He leaves to cherish his memory; a son, Mason Martin [Candice], Oklahoma City; two daughters, Sarah Johnson [Brian], Colgate, Oklahoma and Samantha Etchison, Checotah, Oklahoma; a grandson, Patrick; his mother, Mary B. Martin, Rentiesville, Oklahoma; three brothers, Harold Martin, Jr., and Donald R. Martin [Alice], all of Rentiesville, Oklahoma and Jeffery Matin, Oklahoma City; two great-aunts, a great uncle, four aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, inlcuding three special friends from elementary school days, Stanly Carlis, Joey Ashley and Brian Robertson.

The Tribute will be on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church of Checotah, 210 SW 2nd. Rev. Samuel Cunningham will officiate. Burial will follow in the Paradise Cemetery.
