It was the warm night of July, 15, 1935, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when a son was born to Cooley Vann and Vera Marshall. whom they named Luther Joseph Vann. As a child, Luther attended St. Monica Catholic School. He accepted Christ at an early age, being baptized on October 4th, 1942. As a young adult, Luther would spend most of his life between Oklahoma City, OK and Tulsa, OK; and eventually settling in Tulsa, OK.
Luther had a passion for culinary arts and worked a portion of his life as a Chef during his time at Jamel's, a local restaurant. He also worked as a cook at the Holiday Inn. Luther understood the importance of hard work and later became a skilled carpenter, never afraid to get his hands dirty. He also shared a love for rodeo life through the farm life he was raised in. Learning how to farm and take care of the family land. He joined the OKC Paraders Rodeo Club in 1969. Luther was a devoted member until he left in 2001 to join the Wild Horse Posse. He started off steer roping, then later changed to a bareback rider. He was an auctioneer at the Stock yards and a rodeo announcer at all the local rodeos.
His love for riding never faded and he would enjoy teaching his family how to love it as much as he did. In his spare time, Luther would travel, cook for his family, tame the land and attend to his horses. On a good day, you would find him sitting on his big screened in porch entertaining, with a cold drink, good music and plenty of laughs.
Luther first married Eudeenia McCane to whom 6 children were brought forth, before divorcing in 1975. He had 3 additional children before meeting the love of his life in 1986, Lorene Battle, under their union 2 children were brought, Aaliyah Vann and adopted daughter Yolonda Vann. He also became father to Lorene's son Malcom Battle to complete their union.

Jr, daughters Redia Vann-Fisher and Joyce Vann, grandson Carey Vann and great granddaughter Amari Shanea.
