Life's Journey

Lyndon B Goff was born on April 7, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma; a beautiful addition to the large family of John Wesley and Shirley Ann Goff.

Lyndon attended Owasso Schools and was affectionately known as "Big Cat" to his family, friends, and classmates. He was an active child, participating in sports at an early age. He graduated from Owasso High School in 1983, with recognition in football, wrestling, track and field.

After graduation, Lyndon moved to Tahlequah, Oklahoma to attend Northeastern State University, where he attended school for two years prior to moving to Tulsa. He served as the Dietary Manager for several nursing homes over the course of his professional career, and he ultimately ended his career at Leisure Village Health Care Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Lyndon's coaching career began in 1980's, simply by doing a good deed of signing up his nephew DaRon in football and his niece Matekka in softball at the Salvation Army West Mabee Center. This experience developed in Lyndon, known to all as "Coach Goff," a passion for coaching that remained strong for the past 40 years.

In 1992, he became a part-time coach for the Salvation Army Red Shield Boys and Girls Club and by 1993 he was hired as the part-time Athletic Director. In 2008, Lyndon's employment with the Salvation Army came to an end. This inspired Lyndon to form the Tulsa Youth Athletic Association (Bulldogs) along with his wife and co-partners. He served as the Association's President and Co-founder, while remaining active in coaching boys football. He also served as a Board Member for the Indian Nation Youth Sports.

Throughout his many years of coaching, Coach Goff touched the lives of many children and young adults, and he also mentored many coaches. He was well known for his bright smile, his laugh, and his warm loving spirit.

Lyndon accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a faithful member of Release the Power Ministries until he was called to his heavenly home on March 24, 2023.

On May 31, 2002, Lyndon was united in marriage to Kelly Carey and he became the loving stepfather of Michael Carey and in later years became the devoted uncle to his "little buddy" Bentley Armstrong. He considered his nephew DaRon Hollingsworth and niece Matekka Allen as his own children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Shirley Ann Goff, and nephews Edward Johnson and Christian Goree. He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife Kelly Goff; stepson Michael Carey (Lauren) of Broken Arrow, OK; siblings: Terry Wayne Tuggle (Demetrice) of Okmulgee, OK; Anthony Hollingsworth, Deborah Hollingsworth, Vincent Goff, Lalani Galloway, all of Tulsa, OK; Keith Goff of Dallas, TX; Sherry Lynn Barnes of Coweta, OK; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services for "Coach Goff" will be Saturday April 1, 2023 at 11AM at Metropolitan Baptist Church - Tulsa.

Visitation will be Friday from 1PM until 6PM in the Tulsa Chapel.
