It all began on May 4, 1926, when a child was born to Bell and Anna [Jackson] Mitchell in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. This child, a beautiful daughter, was named Mable, but affectionately referred to as "Doll Baby". She was the 6th child of 8 in the family.
Mable was baptized at Mount Zion Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Pastor J. B. Brown. She served the Lord faithfully, working in the Church Mission and serving as President of the Usher Board. She also worked with the Okmulgee Public Schools, volunteering her time on the P. T. A.
Mable was reared and educated in the Okmulgee Public School system. Later in life, she met and married Nadier Foster in Okmulgee. Their loving union was blessed with six children; 4 boys and 2 girls. She enjoyed working in her yard and the simple things in life.
On Saturday morning, November 11, 2017, Mable M. Foster, after 91 years with us, was "summoned by the Master" and called his faithful servant, mother and grandmother to rest in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Nadier, her son, Phil, along with other relatives gone on before her. Her loving memory will live on in our hearts.
Mrs. Foster leaves in God's care; her children, Herbert [Linda] Smith, , Linda Foster, Anna [Joseph] McGriff, Michael [Dorcas] Foster and Terry [Maria] Foster; two sisters, Avanda Mitchell and Emma Jean Montgomery, both of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Earnest [Gladys] Foster, Southfield, Michigan, Loretta [Olen] McFalls, Okmulgee, Oklahoma; a daugher-in-law, Carolyn Foster; 28 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; along with a caravan of other relatives and friends.
You may visit Mrs. Foster, as she slumbers in sweet repose at the funeral home in Okmulgee on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 12:30 P.M.. The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 12:40 PM.
A graveside ceremony will be shared at 1:00 PM in the Woodlawn Cemetery, with Dr. Douglas M. Currington, Pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Officiating.
