Her Story
Mable Harvey
July 31, 1913~April 3, 2010

Genus & Family
On July 31, 1913, a bouncing bundle of joy was delivered to Luther Collins and Ida Jones in Paris, Arkansas. She was the second child in a family of five siblings that included four daughters and one son. Two years following the passing of her father at the age of nine, her stepfather and mother, the late John and Ida Baker migrated to Clarksville, Oklahoma. In her late teens she met and married the late Harvey Haynes. To this union five sons were born. She would also marry the late Randy Tyson, a union that would produce one son. In 1962 she married Mr. Marshall Harvey.

Education
Ms. Harvey attended the then "all colored" Public School of the Clarksville Community where she received her eighth grade diploma. She had a compelling desire to further her education, but at that time a high school was not available for Blacks in the community. This experience stimulated the driving force and the expectation she possessed for her sons to pursue at least a high school education.

Home & Church Life
As a youngster she was nurtured in the Christian Religion at home and both the Baptist and Methodist Church in the Clarksville Community. She accepted Christ at an early age. Throughout her life she strived to obey the word of God, and until her late senior years she remained active and involved in church and Christian affairs. During her senior years, she also developed a love for arts and crafts. She enjoyed sharing her artifacts with her family and friends. As a young mother she inherited the full responsibility of raising her boys. Mable was fragile, but she was an industrious lady. Strong in heart with amazing love and spirit who through prayer and a dose of determination, endurance and a willing effort relied on God for all her family and personal needs. She consistently and lovingly throughout the years has demonstrated her care and love for her boys, her daughters-in law, and her extended family. Mable Harvey has left a legacy and example for all who knew her.

On April 13, 2010 in Bakersfield, California, a beautiful and remarkable life came to an end. Her parents, three siblings preceded her in death. Remaining to cherish her precious memories, her sons: Dr. Fred Luther Haynes (Mary Alice), Bakersfield, CA., Arnell Haynes, Tulsa, OK., Carnell Haynes (Ossie Lee), Tulsa, OK., Williams Haynes (Evelyn), Bakersfield, CA., and Lawrence Tyson (Angie), Tulsa, OK., one sister, Corene Foster, Bakersfield, CA., a combination of 62 grand, great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren, two nieces and numerous other relatives and friends.
