Obituary

Mrs. Madeline Jones, age 68 and a resident of Okmulgee, passed from this life on Monday evening, December 10, 2007 in Tulsa.

On October 8, 1939 God blessed Nicholas and Eartha LeBlanc-Syas with their second daughter whom they named Madeline. The family resided in Pumpkin Center before moving to the Okmulgee area where Madeline attended Okmulgee Public Schools.

She spent much of her adult life in Los Angeles, California. She worked as a Practical Nurse for 17 years before returning to Okmulgee to be near her family. She met and married Ira Jones, and became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev C.J. Jeffrey. During the untimely passing of Rev. Jeffrey she remained under the leadership of Rev. Judson Fields, whom she grew very fond of. Madeline was an active member of the church choir and the ladies mission society until her health failed and prevented her from attending. Other than being around family and friends, Madeline loved to quilt and crochet as well as work crossword puzzles, watch television, especially the cooking channel but most of all she loved to keep her nails groomed and looking pretty at all times.

Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and siblings, Barbara Ruth Brown and Nicholas Syas, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory a nephew Richard Brown and wife Pat, Norman, OK and a niece Vicki Thompson and husband, Leon, Houston TX, three great nephews, Brandon Brown and Braylin Thompson, Houston, TX and Justen Brown, Norman, OK, two great nieces, Britney Brown, Norman, OK and Brayla Thompson, Houston, TX. She also leaves four special cousins, Porsche Dawson, Cynthia Johnson, Sheila Hawkins and Gwen Nicholas, all of Tulsa, OK who cared for her during the length of her illness at Tulsa Nursing Center. She also leaves one uncle, Leroy Syas, Chicago IL and two aunts, Eddie Walker, Cane Creek, OK and Lucille Smith-Bausley, Muskogee, OK as well as several other relatives and friends.

Service of Memory of Mrs. Jones will be on Saturday, December 10, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. in the Macedonia Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Rev. Judson Fields, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee. You may visit Mrs. Jones at the funeral home on Friday from 12 Noon to 6 PM.
