Obituary

Magnolia Clark Walker Parker was born on October 4, 1911 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Lillie J. Harris and Fred D. Clark. She was one of 4 children. Magnolia was the last surviving sibling. She grew up and attended school in Okmulgee County.

At an early age, she met and married Frank Walker on October 12, 1926, who pastored his own church, Nuyaka Church of God in Christ. This union was blessed with 11 children.

Magnolia was an excellent homemaker; she loved sewing, cooking and gardening. One of her favorite expressions was to say "I am going to the kitchen and whip-up a cake." Another favorite past time was canning and quilting. she was an avid reader. Even to the end of her life, she was still spelling and sounding out words. She was indeed a lover of books and constantly studied the Word of God. Magnolia gave her life to Christ at the age of 11 and was always active in the church.

The family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona in 1956 and later relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they became members of the Lansing Street Church of God in Christ. Magnolia was a dedicated worker in the church. She was widowed in 1970, but still continued her activities in teh church and was very active in the Sewing Circle and Bible class. She loved teaching her Sunday School classes in Nuyaka and in Tulsa. One event she looked forward to most was the Annual convocations held in Memphis, Tennessee. In addition, she enjoyed attending the Annual Women's conventions that were held across the country.

she met and married Herman Parker in 1983 and moved to Okmulgee. there, she became a member of the Church of God in Christ, #2, where she became the church mother and chaired the Hospitality/Repast Committee. She remained in Okmulgee until her health began to fail, at which time her daughters relocated her to victorville, California. she became a member of Friendly Temple Church of God in Christ. She was also a member of the Sewing Cirlce and the Mother's board.

She leaves in God's care; 9 children, Geneva Walker-Asher, Frankie Mae Walker-McGee, Bernice Walker-Walston, George Walker, Earnest Walker, Warren Walker, Charles Walker, Lillie Walker-Cottrell and Lenda Magnolia Walker; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The farewell held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 2:30 P.M. in the All Faiths Chapel at Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., in Tulsa. Burial followed in Crown Hill Cemetery in Tulsa.
