The Life Of Mamie R. Wells

Born Mamie Ruby Griffin to George and Amanda Griffin in Forest, Mississippi, her life journey began on September 27, 1927. Upon graduating from E.T. Hawkins High School in Mississippi, she later moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue a business career. During this time she and her sister Eloise were employed at the White House. Mamie later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she was employed at Brown-Duncan Department Store. She soon met and married Tollie Bill Wells, Sr. and they began their life together. Four children were born to this union.

The Lord call Mamie home to rest on October 16, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Amanda Griffin, her husband Tollie Wells, Sr., and her youngest son, Tollie, Jr. Mamie leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories: her sister, Eloise Griffin, her children: Vanita Shaw, Tulsa, OK., Debra Shakoor (Abdul), Chicago, IL., Kim Jeffrey (Thomas), Tulsa, OK., and Larry, Sr. (Denise), Tulsa, OK., her grandchildren: Donald Jr., Latasha, Shuwanna, Jermaine, Tekisha, Lachelle, Mark, Tolese, Troy, Winston, Jr., Tollie, III, Larry, II.,and TaMeya, great-grandchildren: Michael, Gerard, Jr., LaDaysha, Jermaine, Anthony, II, Taylor, Tehya, Leilani, Dawn, Jr., Tollion, and JaVon, along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services for Mamie Wells will be Wednesday October 21, 2009 at 11AM inside our All Faiths Chapel in Tulsa. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12PM to 7PM.
