Marcel "Cricket" Verner
On October 19, 1968 a precious gift was delivered to Clarence Elliot and Katherine Miller Nolan. Their gift was a baby boy they named Marcel Montrice. Marcel attended Hissom Memorial School in his early childhood. He then went on to further his education and graduated from Edison High School in 1991.
Marcel left Hissom in 1992 where he became an active participant in the community. Rescare was the first agency to help assist Marcel in his independence in the community from 1992 to 1995. Gatesway then took over from 1995 to 2008. Marcel had a long lasting relationship with the members at Gatesway until he became very ill in 2008, and changed to Magna until now. Marcel also labored for NCDC in 1995.
Marcel loved people and he loved music. He was a very outgoing young man. Marcel loved going to church. When he was younger he was a active member of Rentie Grove Baptist Church. As years went by he attended services as he could and where he could. But his health did not stop his love for God. Marcel also loved to go to the movies, horseback riding, and swimming. He was very close with his family and friends.
On October 4, 2009, Marcel was called home to Glory. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his brother Kennith Verner. He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories, his sister Michelle Verner, brother Kevin Elliott (Yvette), his aunt Earnestine Miller, nephews: Rico Verner, William Verner, Kevin Elliott II, Kamrin Elliott, Kaleb Elliott, Chris Williams, nieces: Jordawn Stovall, and Tanya Verner, along with a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
Services will be Saturday October 10, 2009 at 11AM at Full Gospel Outreach Ministries. Visitation will be Friday from 12Noon to 7PM.
